As of 1st January 2023, all products destined for the UK market (England, Wales and Scotland) must bear the UKCA mark. CE marking continues to be accepted during the transition period, which ends on 31 December 2022. After this date, the CE marking will no longer be recognised and must be replaced by the UKCA marking.
Since Brexit, the United Kingdom has become effectively a ‘third country’ to the European Union. Therefore, EU-based manufacturers or importers wishing to export their products to the UK must have an Authorised Representative based in the UK. Ente Certificazione Macchine UK Ltd is able to act as Authorised Representative for European companies wishing to place their products on the UK market.
The UKCA marking (UK Conformity Assessed) covers the most part of products requiring CE marking and establishes technical requirements, conformity assessment procedures and applicable standards, which are very similar to those of the CE marking. Ente Certificazione Macchine performs the third party UKCA conformity verification activity, which includes verification of the technical documentation that the company must prepare in accordance with the UKCA marking and laboratory tests according to the applicable standards. In case of positive outcome, ECM issues a third-party UKCA Certificate stating that the product meets the requirements.
In order to broaden its core business with services always up-to-date with market needs, ECM has also started the accreditation process for UKCA marking.
