reat success for ECM’s participation in Medica 2019, the world’s leading medical exhibition, which takes place every year in Dusseldorf.

The four-day trade fair registered a new record of attendance: 5500 exhibitors from 69 countries at MEDICA, and nearly 800 exhibitors from 41 nations at COMPAMED – the trade show dedicated to medical technology industry.
The exhibition is therefore confirmed as the no.1 platform for international business, with two thirds of visitors representing about 170 countries and more than 90 per cent of the 121,000 professional visitors with decision-making authority. Many institutional delegations from Asia, North Africa and South America contributed to this high degree of internationality, which encountered the export interests of many suppliers.

ECM attended MEDICA in partnership with the prestigious Democenter-Sipe Foundation, as part of the internationalization project HealthCare Made in Emilia-Romagna, which involved several leading regional players. “The program” says Federica Secchi, ECM Business Manager “has allowed ECM to consolidate its global reputation and get in touch with important international organizations”. Our managers received customers and visitors at our shared exhibition space in Hall 15 – Stand A29, illustrating our services and activities as a notified body for medical device certification according to MDD 93/42/CE and accredited testing laboratory.

The new medical device regulation 2017/745 was one of the most discussed topic with the participants. “Medical device manufacturers and professionals are very concerned about the issues related to the new regulation” explains Federica Secchi, “they are all starting to prepare for the upcoming changes and will soon have to face the new challenging requirements”.

ECM is currently working to be accredited according to the MDR EU 745/2017 and to provide companies with new services oriented to regulatory changes that will involve stakeholders from May 2020. One of the most relevant is the top-quality training activity that ECM is able to provide as training body.
