Act together to build a positive safety and health culture
This is the theme promoted by ILO for the 2022 edition of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, which focuses on strengthening social dialogue towards a more effective safety and health culture.
The latest report published by ILO “Enhancing social dialogue towards a culture of safety and health: What have we learned from the COVID-19 crisis?“, shows that some 2.9 million workers die each year as a result of occupational accidents and diseases.
Over 300 million workers interviewed from 142 countries stated that they feel they cannot report safety issues to their employers without fear. In contrast, workplaces with more worker involvement and dialogue report on average 64% fewer accidents and 58% fewer hospitalisations.
It is therefore crystal clear that it is essential to create a culture of prevention.
Institutions, companies and workers must actively participate to ensure a safe and healthy working environment, through a system of rights, responsibilities and duties that is observed at all levels.
The key event of the day will be the “High-level virtual discussion on acting together to build a positive safety and health culture“, which will be held via Zoom, after registration, from 13:30 to 14:45 and live on YouTube >> https://www.ilo.org/global/topics/safety-and-health-at-work/events-training/events-meetings/world-day-safety-health-at-work/WCMS_841448/lang–en/index.htm
