The UKCA mark (UK Conformity Assessed) is theconformity assessment mark for Great Britain. It applies to most products previously covered by the CE marking.
The requirements of the UKCA marking are similar to those of the CE marking and define the technical characteristics of the product, the conformity assessment procedures and the applicable standards.
For the following products covered by the UKCA mark, there are also some special rules:
The UKCA mark came into force on 1 January 2021, but there will be a transition period until 31 December 2021 to allow companies to comply with the new requirements. From 1° January 2022 only products with the UKCA mark will be accepted on the UK market.
Since the UK now has the status of a “third country”, EU-based manufacturers or importers wishing to sell in the UK market will need to have an Authorised Representative in the UK.
Ente Certificazione Macchine, through a partner company based in the UK, provides companies wishing to place their products on the UK market with an Authorised Representative service.
Moreover, ECM is already working to apply for accreditation for the UKCA marking for medical devices and other directives for which we are accredited in the EU.
