{"id":1464,"date":"2020-03-27T10:55:00","date_gmt":"2020-03-27T09:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.entecerma.it\/european-commission-plans-to-postpone-the-implementation-of-the-mdr\/"},"modified":"2020-03-27T10:55:00","modified_gmt":"2020-03-27T09:55:00","slug":"european-commission-plans-to-postpone-the-implementation-of-the-mdr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.entecerma.it\/en\/european-commission-plans-to-postpone-the-implementation-of-the-mdr\/","title":{"rendered":"EUROPEAN COMMISSION PLANS TO POSTPONE THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE MDR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Considering the recent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.raps.org\/news-and-articles\/news-articles\/2020\/3\/european-commission-seeks-to-delay-mdr-by-a-year\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">declaration<\/a>\u00a0by the European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, it is expected that the\u00a0<em>European Commission<\/em>\u00a0will propose to\u00a0<strong>postpone<\/strong>\u00a0the implementation of the Medical Devices Regulation (MDR)\u00a0<strong>by one year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MDR 2017\/745<\/strong>\u00a0should have been applied from 26 May, however, the current crisis due to the COVID-19 outbreak requires the industry to concentrate its efforts to deal with the emergency.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.medtecheurope.org\/news-and-events\/press\/medtech-europe-calls-for-a-pause-on-ivdr-and-mdr-implementation-to-facilitate-the-fight-against-covid-19-and-to-safeguard-healthcare-systems\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>MedTech Europe<\/em><\/a>\u00a0&#8211; the European association representing the medical technology industries &#8211; had in recent days officially called for a pause in the implementation of IVDR and MDR to facilitate the\u00a0<strong>fight against COVID-19<\/strong>.<br \/>\nCompanies are working\u00a0<strong>non-stop<\/strong>\u00a0to preserve health systems and ensure the constant supply of ppe and medical devices necessary to contain the spread of contagion, as well as all other medical technologies needed every day to diagnose, treat and monitor patients affected by coronavirus and other critical or chronic health conditions. It is therefore essential that all actors involved focus their efforts to\u00a0<strong>face the current crisis<\/strong>, postponing the implementation of the new MDR and IVDR regulations until the COVID-19 emergency is over.<\/p>\n<p>Also\u00a0<strong>Ente Certificazione Macchine<\/strong>, Notified Body for the Medical Devices Directive 93\/42\/EEC and applicant for MDR accreditation, is fully dedicating its resources and efforts to perform the conformity verification activities of masks, gloves and other medical devices necessary to face the coronavirus emergency.
