The <a href=\"https:\/\/environment.ec.europa.eu\/topics\/waste-and-recycling\/packaging-waste\/packaging-packaging-waste-regulation_en\">new regulation<\/a> aims to reduce generated waste by focusing on three main objectives: minimizing materials through design, encouraging reuse, and increasing the percentage of recycled packaging by optimizing separate waste collection. These elements are essential to protecting natural resources.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main date of general application for the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR \u2013 Regulation (EU) 2025\/40) is August 12, 2026. As of this date, initial substance restrictions (including a strict prohibition on PFAS in food contact packaging), technical documentation requirements, and Declarations of Conformity become applicable.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:28px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1789ed68cf25dd74cc3cd420d4e4ac78\"><strong>KEY CHANGES AND 2030 TARGETS<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main goal is to reduce per capita packaging waste by 15% by 2040 compared to 2018 levels. Key directives include weight reduction and an increase in reuse starting January 1, 2030, for large household appliances, takeaway items, and e-commerce. In addition, from 2030, minimum recycled plastic content targets will increase: 30% for contact-sensitive PET, 10% for other sensitive plastics, 30% for single-use bottles, and 35% for other packaging types. Certain types of single-use packaging will be banned, including food service packaging in restaurants, packaging for fresh fruit and vegetables, and hotel miniature toiletries.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:28px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-acb72bf98b9bb19a5ee86aa5f88bd258\"><strong>A CULTURAL REVOLUTION<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The PPWR does not merely introduce new obligations, but a completely different way of conceiving packaging.
