{"id":9056,"date":"2025-01-15T09:23:51","date_gmt":"2025-01-15T08:23:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.entecerma.it\/extension-of-ecm-accreditation-for-the-red-directive-ready-to-support-manufacturers-in-verifying-cybersecurity-requirements\/"},"modified":"2025-01-15T09:35:37","modified_gmt":"2025-01-15T08:35:37","slug":"extension-of-ecm-accreditation-for-the-red-directive-ready-to-support-manufacturers-in-verifying-cybersecurity-requirements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.entecerma.it\/en\/extension-of-ecm-accreditation-for-the-red-directive-ready-to-support-manufacturers-in-verifying-cybersecurity-requirements\/","title":{"rendered":"Extension of ECM accreditation for the RED Directive: ready to support manufacturers in verifying cybersecurity requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The extension of ECM&#8217;s accreditation under the RED Directive 2014\/53\/EU is now official, enabling us to conduct conformity assessments of radio equipment in compliance with cybersecurity requirements (Article 3.3, points d, e, f).<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>With the publication on <em>Accredia<\/em>\u2019s website of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accredia.it\/documenti\/delibera-del-comitato-settoriale-di-accreditamento-attivita-regolamentate-del-12-12-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">decision by the Sectoral Accreditation Committee for Regulated Activities (CSA AR) on 12 December 2024<\/a>, ECM has obtained the accreditation extension under the Product Scheme for the <strong>RED Directive 2014\/53\/EU<\/strong>, specifically addressing <strong>cybersecurity requirements<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-46a0138024a767360c6dac5b279565b6\" style=\"color:#085f9b\"><strong>THE ACCREDITATION EXTENSION<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>ECM is now officially accredited to assess the conformity of radio equipment also in relation to <strong>essential cybersecurity requirements<\/strong> outlined in <strong>Article 3.3, points d, e, and f<\/strong>. This extension marks a significant step forward in addressing the emerging safety challenges manufacturers of radio equipment will face\u00a0in the coming months. <u>As of <strong>1st August 2025<\/strong>, compliance with cybersecurity requirements will become mandatory for all internet-connectable radio equipment<\/u> (as mandated by <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/?uri=CELEX%3A32022R0030\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Delegated Regulation 2022\/30\/EU<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-b3be3cacbb7ab4536b52a8865466c481\" style=\"color:#085f9b\"><strong>WHAT ARE THE CYBERSECURITY REQUIREMENTS?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/eli\/dir\/2014\/53\/oj\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>RED Directive 2014\/53\/EU<\/strong><\/a> specifies that devices connected to the Internet must meet the following essential cybersecurity requirements:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Network Protection (Article 3.3d):<\/strong> ensuring devices do not compromise the security of communication networks;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Personal Data Protection (Article 3.3e):<\/strong> implementing measures to safeguard users\u2019 personal data and privacy;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fraud Prevention (Article 3.3f):<\/strong> adopting solutions to prevent the fraudulent use of devices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Adapting to these provisions requires careful and timely planning by manufacturers, who must implement the necessary functionalities to meet the directive&#8217;s requirements.
