Ente Certificazione Macchine (ECM) officially joining SEMI, the global microelectronics association, marks the beginning of a new operational phase. The Body announces the expansion of its services to the industry’s rigorous standards: ECM will carry out testing and certification activities according to SEMI guidelines, becoming a strategic reference point for machinery manufacturers targeting the semiconductor supply chain.
The production of semiconductors and microchips requires equipment of absolute reliability. SEMI guidelines regulate crucial aspects ranging from environmental, health, and safety measures (SEMI S2) to ergonomics (SEMI S8) and risk assessment (SEMI S10). With the introduction of these new verification schemes, ECM offers companies a specialized service to ensure machinery compliance with requirements that go beyond traditional CE markings.
Thanks to targeted investments in technical skills and laboratory equipment, ECM technicians will perform the necessary assessments directly on machinery and components. This integrated approach covers electrical, chemical, mechanical, and radiation risks (both ionizing and non-ionizing) typical of cleanroom environments. The goal is to support manufacturers in obtaining robust compliance reports that are accepted by microelectronics giants worldwide.
For Italian and European companies, being able to rely on a third-party body capable of verifying SEMI standards means breaking down customs and trade barriers. The assessments conducted by ECM will speed up machinery approval times and their integration into worldwide production plants. Safety and compliance thus become a fast track for exports and frontier technological innovation.
