A solid bridge between Emilia-Romagna and the Republic of Korea in the name of safety and industrial competitiveness. The memorandum of understanding between the Emilia-based Notified Body and KOTHEA was celebrated at the headquarters of Ente Certificazione Macchine (ECM), in the presence of top local authorities—including the Korean Consul General in Milan, the Regional Councilor for Health Policies of Emilia-Romagna, and the President of the Regional Legislative Assembly. A strategic agreement which, as highlighted by Paolo Crescimbeni (Metropolitan Councilor for Productive Activities and Mayor of San Giorgio di Piano, who also conveyed greetings from Metropolitan Mayor Matteo Lepore) in his speech, demonstrates the value and capacity of the Bologna area to attract international expertise and investment. In his remarks, Crescimbeni indeed defined the agreement as ‘a concrete example of collaboration between different systems that choose to work together,’ confirming the existence of a local fabric made of innovative, high-quality companies capable of competing in the most advanced global contexts.

At the heart of the agreement is the crucial medical devices sector, a global market where the speed of trade demands rigorous standards. As highlighted by Crescimbeni, in an interconnected world where healthcare devices cross borders rapidly, it becomes essential to rely on clear, solid, and shared rules, guaranteeing those who produce but, above all, those who use these tools daily. From this perspective, certification does not represent a mere bureaucratic step or a simple technical compliance requirement, but rather a pillar and a fundamental element of trust and protection for public health, patients, healthcare professionals, and public systems.

Local institutions reaffirmed their full support for these transnational synergies. Crescimbeni confirmed that the metropolitan administration, within the framework of the Emilia-Romagna Region, strongly supports pathways capable of combining economic development with innovation and the highest level of social responsibility, standing alongside these collaborations to build a solid development that never loses sight of safety and quality.

The event also highlighted the growth path undertaken by ECM within the Normec Group—a journey that institutions view with great interest—confirming the centrality of the Emilia production fabric within the arena of the most advanced markets. The agreement between ECM and KOTHEA paves the way for concrete projects and new business opportunities. This perspective is fully shared by the Metropolitan Councilor, who expressed confidence that this agreement will spark new synergies to benefit not only the organizations involved but the entire economic and social ecosystem, strengthening mutual trust and projecting the area toward increasingly competitive and interconnected global challenges.
