Italy/South Korea relations, signed the Memorandum of Understanding between ECM and KTC

Signed the agreement between Ente Certificazione Macchine (European Notified Body No. 1282) and KTC (Korea Testing Certification institute) to create a new business partnership in testing and certification.

On Monday, 4 September 2023, the President of KTC, Sung-il Ahn – former Vice-Minister of International Trade and Legal Affairs in Korea, and Luca Bedonni – Sole Director of ECM, signed the Memorandum of Understanding that officially starts the collaboration between the two organisations. ECM and KTC will collaborate in the safety and conformity assessment of products, machinery and medical devices destined for the European and Korean markets.

Thanks to the Memorandum of Understanding signed between ECM and KTC, the two companies will become a point of reference for Korean manufacturers wishing to undertake the certification process to place their products on the EU market and for European companies wishing to place their products on the Korean market.

On this occasion, Ente Certificazione Macchine welcomed to its headquarters in Valsamoggia (BO) many international and local institutional personalities, as well as representatives from the industry and the academic world to its headquarters in Valsamoggia. After the presentation of the project by KTC President Mr. Ahn SungIl and ECM President Mr. Luca Bedonni, the Mayor of the Municipality of Valsamoggia Mr. Daniele Ruscigno gave the institutional welcome to the attendees.

The General Consul of Korea Republic Mr. Kang Hyung Shik opened the in-depth session on relations between Italy and South Korea. For a more technical point of view, Adriano Gilli – Head of the Attractiveness and Internationalisation Sector of the Emilia-Romagna Region and Morena Fiorentini – Head of the Internationalisation Area of Confindustria Emilia – illustrated some data on the involvement of local companies in the Korean market. At the end of the session, Prof. Antonio Fiori from the University of Bologna, President of Asia Institute, presented an academic perspective on the diplomatic context in which trade relations between Italy and Korea develop.

Also taking part in the ceremony were Federica Govoni, Councillor of the Municipality of Valsamoggia; Fabio Dardi, President of the Municipal Council of Castello di Serravalle; and Kim Kihyeon, Consul of Korea.

“It is a great honour for ECM to have hosted so many prestigious personalities and experts at this important event,” explains Luca Bedonni, Sole Director of ECM. “We will certainly make the most of the interesting insights offered by the speakers today and we will strive to contribute, through this partnership, to further intensify trade relations between our two countries and shorten the distance between the Italian and Korean markets,” concludes Bedonni.
