The balance of ECM at We Make Future 2026: technological and digital innovation drives global compliance

29 June 2026

The 2026 edition of We Make Future (WMF) was not only an extraordinary showcase for technological innovation, artificial intelligence, and international networking; it left us with the profound awareness of having experienced a true turning point. We are facing an accelerated digital transition where the adoption of new technologies and regulatory compliance no longer run on parallel tracks, but merge: regulatory safety becomes the true enabling engine of digital innovation.

One of the clearest and most evident trends to emerge during the fair is the strong maturity of the attending companies and startups. We encountered unprecedented focus and readiness in integrating EU regulatory requirements – first and foremost the imminent application of the European AI Act – as a fundamental strategic asset to compete globally.

In this dynamic and highly digitalized landscape, ECM confirms its position as the ideal partner for companies, capable of transforming the complexity and technical rigor of certifications into a concrete and secure competitive advantage for market access.

Despite the pervasive drive toward automation, virtual ecosystems, and process digitalization, the firsthand experience at WMF 2026 reaffirmed a cornerstone principle: the irreplaceable importance of human contact and direct dialogue. Leading ECM’s activities on the ground and weaving this dense network of relationships were Marzia Pellegrini (Sales Manager) and Luca Serra (Marketing & Communication Manager).

Listening firsthand to the technological challenges and operational needs of industry leaders, developers, and manufacturers allowed our team to translate the complexity of standards and directives into concrete, tailored testing and certification solutions. The exhibition proved to be the perfect ecosystem for consolidating human relationships destined to turn into long-term strategic value.

For ECM, the journey continues with a significantly strengthened network of commercial contacts and institutional synergies, coupled with a crystal-clear corporate mission: to elevate global technological standards, ensuring that digital excellence, advanced software, and IoT interconnection are always backed by the highest level of safety and applicable compliance.

In parallel with the digital evolution and the introduction of new software and AI regulations, we remind you that on January 14, 2027, the current Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC will be permanently phased out, making way for the new EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230, which introduces major updates specifically regarding cybersecurity and digital control systems.

Underestimating the technical timelines required for regulatory compliance regarding industrial software, advanced automation, and new technological products means risking market blocks in business arenas that do not forgive delays.
