In order to better clarify the situation of confusion related to the certification of facial masks on the market, two popular Italian television programs have dedicated a special focus on the topic. We would like to thank Striscia la Notizia e Report for having involved us in their reportages, aired on Monday 27th April 2020, to provide correct information on the certification of masks.

The enquiries carried out clearly show that there are many improvised importers who, using documents improperly or incorrectly and passing them off as CE certificates, place products on the European market without the correct CE marking or without the extraordinary authorization obtained from Inail (for masks intended as personal protective equipment) and ISS (for surgical masks).

Ente Certificazione Macchine is working daily to contrast these abuses through a targeted information campaign and through its direct support to market surveillance authorities. The aim is to provide the market only with certified products accompanied by the correct documentation that guarantees the safety of end-users.
