As every year, in 2024 ECM Ente Certificazione Macchine reflects on the milestones achieved and looks forward with enthusiasm to tackling new challenges.

2024 has been an extraordinary year, marked by significant news and the expansion of our services towards new technologies, affirming our role as a trusted partner for Italian and international companies.

THE LAUNCH OF FUTURE-TECH DIVISION FOR NEW TECHNOLOGIES

In 2024, ECM launched the FutureTech Division, dedicated to testing and compliance verification activities for emerging technologies related to Transition 5.0, Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence.

With the aim of providing companies with services that are at the forefront of regulatory developments, in recent weeks ECM successfully passed the audit for the extension of its accreditation scope as notified body for the verification of cybersecurity requirements under RED Directive 2014/53/EU (Art. 3.3 d, e, f).

A NEW SERVICE FOR SAFE IMPORTING

Our new Safe Import Check service ensures that imported goods comply with the standards required for entry into the EU market through pre-shipment inspections and assistance during customs checks. Additionally, with the opening of our Shanghai branch, Ente Cerma Certification Shanghai, ECM offers a comprehensive solution for Italian and European companies importing from China. We are able to manage the entire inspection and control process, to prevent the risks of receiving non-compliant, counterfeit, or damaged goods.

STRENGTHENING INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS

2024 has been a pivotal year for ECM in strengthening our presence in international markets. In March, our CEO, Luca Bedonni, visited China and South Korea to promote cooperation between Asia and Europe in certification and testing, reinforcing existing partnerships and exploring new business opportunities. Furthermore, during the year we hosted delegations from KTC (Korea Testing Certification institute) and GTS (Global Testing Services), sharing know-how and best practices.

We were also delighted to meet clients and collaborators from the medical sector at MEDICA 2024, the must-attend event for leading international players in the industry.

Then, this summer, our sales team welcomed a new figure: Marzia Pellegrini, in the role of Sales Manager & Business Developer, to drive strategic expansion into international markets.

GROWTH IN THE MEDICAL SECTOR AND CONTINUOUS TRAINING

ECM has continued to support the medical industry as Notified Body for Regulation (EU) 2017/745 (MDR) through its EU certification activities and by participating as a speaker in key national and international events, including Confindustria DM’s Regulatory Affairs Day 2024 and the MDR Technical Documentation Training for Manufacturers organized by Team-NB. Participation in these initiatives, alongside our structured dialogue service, strengthens our role as a strategic partner for manufacturers, showcasing our commitment to improving the efficiency of conformity assessment processes.

GOALS FOR 2025

As always, we look to the future with ambition. We always look to the future with ambition. For the coming year, we have set significant strategic goals, including obtaining new accreditations for drones, the EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230, and the EU Batteries Regulation 2023/1542, as well as expanding the scope of EU certification for medical devices under the MDR. These objectives are crucial to broadening our service offerings and addressing increasingly diverse market demands.

The new Chinese branch, Ente Cerma Certification Shanghai, will continue its growth path, aiming for institutional recognition to strengthen its role both locally and internationally. In parallel, our Testing Laboratory will acquire new equipment,e nabling us to meet more advanced testing needs. To this end, our staff has already been enriched by a new technician with specific expertise in the automotive electrical sector.

These developments underscore our commitment to innovation and excellence. Thanks to the dedication of our team and the trust of our partners, we will continue to strengthen our leadership in the certification and testing landscape, looking ahead with new purposes.
